IBM Journey Begins on 25th July 2005

As highlighted particularly in my previous post of "2005 Flashback", i'd stated that by joining IBM have kick start my early career in a remarkable fashion. When most of the people switch jobs for a better pays or greater prospect, there's no doubt many curiousity would come accross to their mind. For me, there is no different, by joining this MNC firm, especially with less than 5 months of working experience, i know i'm going to have many daunting tasks ahead.

In a high working performance culture in IBM, there is no time for relaxation rather than chasing the deadlines. However, i was lucky to particpate in the migration project whereby i spent 2 weeks in IBM Japan Makuhari Office. The experience i'd learnt in my trip to Japan is invaluable. I can see myself grow to become a better person and increase my working efficiency.

The best things about working in IBM is that i'm dealing with many peoples from different countries such as Japan, Phillipines, Ireland, US and etc. The communication channel is very useful especially seeing people work together from different countries. IBM focus on collaboration and innovation, where many talented individuals work as a team to achieve absolute results.

I remember when i started joining IBM, i was asked to prepare my business goals and how to achieve it. In IBM, your remuneration package is based on your performance, hence, it's crucial to develop plans as an easily attainable goals. During the performance review recently, i'm really satisfy with my performance in the first 6 months and hopefully i'll used the latest performance evaluations as my benchmark for the year 2006. In few more days, i'll spend some times to think about my vision and goals for 2006.

^-^Have a great year of dog everyone^-^

My First Car - Proton Waja P20Y 1.6(A)

It's really been an amazing year of 2005, exactly 1 year after my graduation and 8 months since i begin my journey into the corporate world. I managed to save enough money for the downpayment for my first car. So, the excitement begin with some research online and calculate my budget before i make the decision.

The Proton Savvy in the first car that came to my attention especially i have a tight budget on selecting car. Thus, there's not much options rather than our very own Malaysian make vehicle. The long queing list of Perodua MyVi have really cut down my option. So, in a bright sunday morning, i decided to test drive some cars in Proton Edar, the pretty sales ladies just keep me going on that day, explaining all the advantages of each Proton Vehicles, they have the Savvy, Gen2, Wira and Waja. Generally speaking, i dreamt of owning a Waja when it launched in 2000, i thought the sedan car is pretty elegant. So, as the day goes on, i have test drives all the Proton cars, in the end, i'd decided to get the Waja since it's a limited edition Waja that came with the leather seats and royale burgundy color.

I got the car 2 weeks after i paid for the booking fees and got the number plate straightaway from the runner. "WNP 2177" it was and it's my user ID in IBM, sigh, i'll think of work when i drive my Waja. Overall, i'm satisfy with the car and i'm a proud owner now although there have many bad rumours about Proton.

^Cheers for our National Car^

DoNNyC - 2005 Flashback

What a remarkable year it was, a year of joy and achievement"

That sum up my thought for 2005. It was a fantastic year indeed. First milestone to kick-start my career is to graduate from RMIT University with an Accounting Degree. With the degree in hand, the next challenging task is to find my first job, obviously the one with good prospect. So, let's begin the journey...

Once i started mailing my resume to my prospective employers, which i started with Big 4 (PWC, EY, KPMG and Deloitte), to my surprise, i got call up for all the interviews beside EY. It was a tantalizing experience with my first 2 interviews in PWC and KPMG. With no experience and full of curiousity of the corporate world, i must admit i was make to answer many questions that is not related to my studies and it's pretty complicated it was. Anyway, those are history for me now and i got my confident back once a medium commercial firm hired me as an Internal Audit Executive.

Well, although joining the big 4 audit firms are every accountants' dream, but not for me. It seems that i found the commercial line is more interesting and i forsee many greater opportunities in front of my eyes. I entered into a leading optical company in Malaysia. The working hour is very flexible as my job is more on routine audits by travel to their branches and frachise outlets. However, i was not so convince about their system and working mindsets. Meanwhile, by putting work aside, i met a lots of great people which are entertaining since i entered into the industry. We have many enjoying moment where we spent time in many places such as clubbing places, road trip and etc. It was marvelous and joy to the max.

However, when all the joy and laughter session begin with my colleagues in the company, i received few calls from the head hunters asking me to apply for the vacant jobs in their company. Without any hesitation, i came for the interview after seeking some advise from my colleagues. It was for a job in the Japanese Accounting Team, first of all, i need to sit for a aptitute test where only those who passed can have their first interview with the manager. I'm glad that i'd passed and i got through the first interview, the second interview session went pretty smooth really, it came to me to the surprise where they make an offer instantly after the interview session. This indeed, it begin a remarkable journey ahead...

The Completion of My First Final Paper

"RELIEVE" is the first word that came out from my mouth moment after my first final paper. I knew my expectation for this paper is getting a distinction, after i screwed up my mid-term paper, i knew it's going to take a massive efforts in order to achieve my target. During the weekend, i told myself
"Gosh, i don't like the pressure to perform"
so, i try to keep my mind focus on my mission, overall, i'm glad that i came through with it and giving myself a chance to score a distinction for this paper. Life is all about wills and determination, you need to work extra miles to achieve your expectation. So, hopefully with the wills and determination that i've got now will help me score good grades in my last three papers. Cheers "DoNNyC"
